Parole King George
The Commanding Officer having received Directions from a General Meeting of Lieutenancy held at Beverly upon the 17th Day of this Month (March) to make known to ye Yeomen composing the Troop under his Command the wishes of Government transmitted to ye said Meeting by his Grace the Duke of Leeds Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire, which are to know, whether the Troop of York East Riding Yeomanry Cavalry is willing to extend its Services to the whole County of York and Town & County of the Town of Kingston upon Hull in case of actual or imminent Danger of Invasion, instead of the East Riding & Town and County of the Town of Kingston upon Hull, within which district they before only engage to Serve!—
His Grace the Lord Lieutenant has expressed himself as having little Doubt in his own Mind of the Zeal & Alacrity with which they would chearfully [sic] extend their services to the District of the Whole County in case the Enemy should appear, but adds that it should be clearly & fully ascertained in order that at the present juncture the General Officers commanding Districts [should] be apprized of the Nature if the Forces under their Command in order to adopt the necessary measures in case of actual Invasion or imminent Danger thereof.—
