A State-of-the-Art Library

In 1992, DePaul University finally built a stand-alone library. It was named after John T. Richardson, DePaul University's ninth president, who served from 1981 to 1993. Designed by Lohan Associates, the library was expected to meet not only the multitudinous needs of faculty and students, but also keep pace with ever-evolving technology.

Construction of the library also changed the look of the Lincoln Park Campus. Seminary Avenue was closed between Fullerton and Belden Streets, creating DePaul's first "quad." Additionally, a hallway was built to connect the library with Scmitt Academic Center.
