Vincentian Heritage Collections

With the transfer of the Opening Day Collection to DePaul, a coordinated approach to develop a research collection that reflects the university’s Vincentian heritage was born. For almost two decades, Rev. Edward Udovic, C. M. and the Office of Mission and Values gathered historic materials relating to the life and times of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac, including a library of texts representing books that Vincent was known to have read. The Commonplace book shown below was created by a relative of St. Louise de Marillac who founded the Daughters of Charity with Vincent in 1633.
